Picking Mushrooms and Wild plants
From July 21st to September 29th, every Saturday
Enjoy a half-day guided excursion in the forests of Cap Jaseux where you will be guided by mushroom and plant gathering experts.
The outing starts at the Interpretation Pavilion with a short presentation on the details of the activity and the general world of mushrooms. Afterwards, during the 2-hour long forest hike, the guides will help you identify and pick different species of mushrooms and taste certain wild plants. The trip ends with a mushroom tasting at the interpretation pavilion where the guides will also give you some recipes to try at home.
The hike is accompanied by two specialized guides, Mr. Luc Godin and Mrs. Héloïse Côté. Mr. Godin is a trained biologist and specializes in mycology and botany. He has been working for about 10 years harvesting plants for various projects stemming from the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. Ms. Côté is a doctoral candidate in biology at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. She has excellent knowledge of non-timber forest products, especially wild plants and mushrooms of Quebec.
